Message from the Dean of the College of Humanities, Behavioural and Social Sciences

The Department of English and Modern Languages is delighted to host this second International Language Conference focusing on the theme Un-Babel-ing Language: Engendering Global Understandings. This event aims to bring together language educators interested in the exchange of views on a wide range of issues affecting research and practice in the teaching of languages.

It is imperative that persons in academia, and especially teachers involved in preparing students for service to their communities and the world, participate in dialogue relevant to the teaching and learning of language. I believe that participants in the conference will gain better insights into the best pedagogical approaches, as well as the challenges and rewards associated with language teaching.

It is our pleasure to welcome each of you to the Northern Caribbean University campus with the hope that everyone—our special guests, presenters, teachers, and teacher trainees - will find the conference both meaningful and memorable. Your presence here is indicative of your willingness to contribute to the dialogue involving language teaching and learning and your commitment to nation building.

May God bless all of you as together we support the efforts to equip our students with the skills they will need to communicate effectively in the global work place. Have a rewarding conference experience!
